We are having a great time today at the Redstone Oktoberfest.
Katie Beth has enjoyed seeing her Aunt Faith and all her friends at The Nook.

We want to Buritte Museum to see “The Whimsical Woods”. It was raining so it affected what we could do, but in the end, we had a good time.
Katie Beth and other children with the help of the staff put on a puppet play of Hansel and Gretel. It was funny seeing the children’s effort.

Katie Beth headed off to her first day at school as a first grader. She got a little nervous while getting ready at home. But, we talked about it a bit and she warmed up to going.
She was very excited to be going by the time we got to school.

Charlie got to announce the Huntsville Stars’ players in the bottom of the third inning. He said he had a great time.
Katie Beth had been hoping to play musical chairs with Hannah and Charlie in the top of the fifth inning. But, she ended up doing it with two other children. Katie Beth had a blast and actually won! We were all so surprised as she didn’t seem to be paying attention.
Katie Beth had a blast being the Huntsville Stars’ Announcer tonight.
As part of being an announcer, she also received a McDonald’s t-shirt and McDonald’s Happy Meal.
What a fun night as friends were texting me while Katie Beth was making announcements! They heard her voice and knew it was her.
She enjoyed her Happy Meal even more than announcing I think.

We had a great time picking berries today. Katie Beth loved the bugs, of course.

We hiked in the Stratton Open Space. This was our first walk into one the water reservoir areas.
After hiking, we visited the Starsmore Discovery Center to panned for gold. I’m still typing so we obviously didn’t find the mother load.
We hiked the south side of Palmer Park for the first time today. We got rained on a bit, but it just cooled us down.
We decided we liked this area a lot better than the northern side of the park.

Karen picked up kites and Katie Beth has been wanting to fly them ever since. We finally got to a park to fly them.
The weather was good for kites. Katie Beth got the first one up with a little help. She quickly wanted to move on to flying the second kite, which went up much easier for Katie Beth.
Katie Beth switched focus to wanting to share the flying experience with other children by running with a flying kite toward children asking if they wanted to fly them with her.

Katie Beth had a blast at the Wilson Ranch Pool. The pool has a spiral water slide, interactive play feature, vortex, and lap area.
